Started working some modifications to my telescope equipment, including computerized systems. It's all DIY, so I have to finally learn electronics, including fine soldering. The cheap hardware store soldering iron just didn't cut it, so I looked for an inexpensive soldering station to try my hand. I found this, and figured I'd give it a try, it's only 35 buck!! I have to say that I'm surprised!! It's well made, the handset is comfortable to hold, the tip is easy to change. The unit heats up almost instantly and appears to hold the set temperature accurately. Maybe not for the professional or every-day use. But for the occasional hobbyist - a great deal.

Works well with smaller wire and smaller projects. Not hot enough to be able to solder connectors with heavier gauge wire. Could not heat up hot enough for a simple QS8 connection

Does not work as promised. Does not have enough heat to solder 0.75mm Copper wires. The arms for keeping the wire in place, does not fit to the machine itself.

At the price point you might think it’s worth trying. I don’t recommend it. Unit went DOA within minutes of applying power. Looking at the internal components very unlikely it’s capable of generating the claimed 80W power rating.
