I really like the overall quality of the sheet metal work and the welding. The reinforced tabs for the lower lift pins were a great feature. The one negative I have about the unit is that it came with undersized pins for the lower lifting arms. These pins are not 7/8 inch which is standard for a category 1 hitch. Instead, they were smaller pins that had a very fragile sleeve to fill in the gap between the pin and the hole on the lift arm. Why not just spend the extra five dollars or so and use actual category 1 sized pins (7/8 inch.)? I ended up going to TSC and getting a new set of pins, both lower and upper of the correct size and then had to ream the holes on the lower pins mount to 7/8 inch to install. Not a big deal but something I shouldn’t have to do on a product that’s advertised to be a category 1 implement.

Overall this is a solid piece of kit. I purchased it to add some ballast to the rear of my TYM 4215, which has excessive lifting capacity for its weight and can easily tip itself over. Overall the quality of this ballast box is really good - uniform paint, decent welds, sturdy, and I like the tool holders for a place to stick a rake and shovel when doing loader work. It's a good value compared to the name brand ballast boxes which are easily three times as much at the local dealerships for the same thing. In fact, it was cheaper than used junk people were trying to sell locally around here. BUT - the 800lb capacity is very optimistic. I filled mine with bags of dry concrete mix - pretty dense stuff, and I was only able to get 480lbs worth before I ran out of room in the box. This would be great for a little Kubota BX or similar machine, but it is a bit on the small side when you get into the compact utility class. If you need to throw 500lbs of weight on your 3pt hitch, this is a solid and affordable way to do it. But if you need more than that, you'll want to find a different solution unless you plan on filling it with lead shot.

Not truly quick hitch ready out of the box. The lower two lift pins are about 1.5 i chest to narrow for U.S. quick hitches. Easily fixed with some grade 8 bolts, washers and nuts. Overall after adding the grade 8 bolts to create extensions for lift pins I am extremely happy with this product.

Solid Purchase at a good price
I was looking for something to weight down the back of tractor a little better than the box scraper or mower. Using sand in this ballast box really did make a difference. The unit came quickly and there really is not much to do in the setup. Real easy to put together. My only concern at the welds on some parts of the ballast. Only time will tell but for now it seems like a solid buy.

Overall it is a good item. Quality metal was used with decent welds. The quick hitch points could be of better quality. But overall I would purchase again if needed.

Good For the Price
The Vevor ballast box works great, but its not quick hitch compatible unless you have a quick hitch with the adjustable top link hook. I purchased one from Vevor as well....the ballast box is built good enough for what its designed for....one of the lower 3 point pin arms was slightly bent when I received it, and it seems this is quite common....a few nudges with the sledge hammer and got it bent back into the proper position. If you buy one of these ballast boxes, buy the quick hitch that Vevor offers as well...it'll save you time and a lot of headache, plus you won't hate yourself when you try to remove it after you've filled the hopper with sand, gravel, or whatever. The 2 cylinders in the one side work great for holding a shovel, or rake. This box will definitely be useful when moving heavier items around with my pallet forks, and even doing loader work. The ballast box doesn't stick out as far as most tractor implements, so it'll allow you a bit better maneuverability in tight spaces. Its somewhat easy to use, if you have the quick hitch...if not, be prepared for a struggle, or pull the access door on the front of it to dump out whatever you used for ballast in order to remove the box from the 3 point.

handy ballast box but terrible 3 pt linkage pins
Fitted to my 20Hp compact tractor with a front loader so needs the bit of weight on the back. Technically works pretty good but the pins delivered with the unit for the lower link arms are a disaster . Absolutely stupid things, only about 15mm in Dia with bushings to take it to CAT1, 19mm. The bushings are too short so they slide out of the lift arm eye, and they absolutely look terrible. Had to go buy some proper CAT1 short pins.

Buyer beware top and bottom mounting tab holes are not in line causing box to hang at an angle center line of holes is off more than 1 1/2 inches. Receiver is welded to the bottom of the box and not reinforced, if you attempt to pull anything of any weight bottom of box bends from the stress. I attempted to work with Vevor's technical team several times to come to a solution and their response was that the box is to specification and is within intended design. They also eluded it was my tractor and I needed to make an adjustment on it, its a John Deere can't get any better than that. Basically the box is made of lightweight steel and poorly constructed would never hold 800 lbs. of anything.

Overall, this ballast box meets the primary objective which was to add weight on the rear of my tractor. It arrived in 4 days with a couple minor shipping scratches. The lift arm pins were too long and Vevor's response was that there were no shorter pins in stock. So, I went ahead and purchased the correct size Cat 0 pins with Cat 1 to Cat 0 reducing bushings. This cost me an extra $36 for the parts plus gas (76 mile round trip) to go get the parts.
